How do we work?

We focus on the mental health of children and young people.

What do we offer?

New Horizons is designed to enhance mental health and relationships.

New Horizons is a clinical outreach program with a primary focus on children/young people, however we also work holistically to support the family by providing information, referrals, advocacy and counselling. New Horizons aims to increase capacity, coping strategies, strengthen relationships, improve wellbeing and work towards identified goals whilst exploring life choices and listening to what matters to you. We provide support to improve relationships and help reconnect with family, friends or the community.

We have a flexible delivery as our support can be offered both in-centre at our office in Narrabundah, or at a place that is convenient to you, such as your school or home.

The New Horizons Program also runs a series of groups for children and young people including:
Seasons for Growth, COS.P, DRUMBEAT
and Rage.

The Seasons for Growth Program is an evidence-based grief, change and loss group. It uses the imagery of the seasons to help a young person understand their experience of change and grief and develop strategies to strengthen their emotional and mental wellbeing. Seasons for Growth explores the impact of change and loss in every-day living and offers new ways to respond and manage these changes.

Suitable for children and young people aged eight to 15

Discovering RelationshipsUsing Music, Beliefs, Emotions, Attitudes and Thoughts.

The DRUMBEAT Program is designed to engage children and young people who may be resistant to more traditional talk-based approaches. The program uses a framework of fun and hands-on learning to draw participants’ attention to connections between their experiences in the drum circle, and their relationship in the wider community in a safe and creative environment.

Rage is an anger management course for young people aged between 11 and 17.

Rage is a strengths-based, solution-focused program that is hands-on, practical and fun.

This program helps young people to understand their anger, and develop positive ways to communicate and express their emotions.
